Far enough back for the salt to matter less

Low ground, so drainage first

On flat land the roof has to deliver water to the stormwater system, and the system has to take it. We check gutter fall, downpipe number and size, and whether the downpipes are actually connected to something that works, because disconnected or blocked downpipes are common on older houses and they put water straight into the footings.
