Mona Vale runs from the ocean at Mona Vale Beach and the headland, across the shopping centre and the hospital precinct, up to where Mona Vale Road climbs away toward Ingleside and Terrey Hills. It is the practical centre of the northern peninsula, and its roofs span about seventy years of building practice.

Where the house sits decides the specification

The headland and the ocean-facing streets are properly exposed. Salt drift lands on everything and the roof fails at its fasteners, cut sheet ends and flashing laps rather than through the covering. A short distance inland, past the shops and toward the Mona Vale Road rise, that pressure drops away quickly and the roof is dealing with ordinary age and condition instead.

That is why two Mona Vale houses of the same age can need different hardware, and why we ask for the street before talking about materials. The exposure bands published for marine environments and the AS 3566 fastener classes exist precisely because the difference is measurable.

What we are called out for

Where Typical fault
Beach and headland streets Corroded fixings, rusted sheet ends, failed flashing laps, gutter interiors gone
Mid-suburb brick-and-tile Ridge bedding and pointing cracked out, cracked and slipped tiles
Unit blocks and townhouses Flat and low-pitch roofs, parapet upstands, box gutter outlets, common property reports
Newer rebuilds Low-pitch sheeting detail, skylight and penetration flashings

Tile roofs here often have life left

A great many Mona Vale tile roofs are structurally fine and cosmetically finished. If the tiles still ring solid and the problem is pointing, a few cracked units and a chalked surface, restoration gets you years for a fraction of a re-roof. Where the tiles have gone porous or you are chasing a different leak every winter, replacement is the honest answer and we will say so.
